Acrylics on canvas (1996)
The name ‘Contract’s Disease’ gives some idea of what was on my mind at the time. This was painted in 1996 whilst I was studying film & photography at Plymouth College of Art & Design. The painting style is building on an earlier idea which was inspired from cubism and pop art. The composition was broken down into basic components of lines and curves, the idea that so much around us in the modern world is man-made and designed, so the colours also follow suit being very plastic.
