This is an image I have adored for a long time. It was originally a photograph taken during a visit inside Santiago de Compostella in the mid-1990's for a service with pilgrims - I was probably aged 20 at the time. The catherdral was dark and the image came out with a motion blur - I loved it more than if it were perfect because it captured the mood; even an umbrella still up which someone hadn't yet taken down as people shuffled into the aisles.
I have wanted to paint this for years, and as I continue my journey with oil paint and loving its textures and how I can work the paint, I have finally managed to achieve it.
